Inclusive Art for Inclusive Care
Through our EII initiative,
Our Mission is to enhance dermatological education and healthcare by creating and advocating for the integration of diverse, culturally sensitive medical illustrations that represent all skin tones and ethnicities, thereby improving the accuracy and inclusivity of medical training and patient care.
A growing number of studies show the positive impact of having diverse medical illustrations and how they improve the accuracy of diagnoses. Notable articles include: The American Cancer Society, The NIH , and JEAVDV . As the concern for misdiagnoses in multicultural patients increase, the amount of research is growing as well. We aim to contribute to the effort for more diverse representation through EII.
The EII focuses on improving dermatology education by commissioning and integrating illustrations that reflect the diversity of skin conditions across populations. Our goal is to make medical illustrations inclusive, accurate, and culturally sensitive.
